I didn't get to test the water proofing because I kept the sling under my rain jacket when it rained. I came in right during the tail end of Ida so I saw the flooding first hand. The conditions I took the sling out to was all over NYC. Most of the time I didn't carry my water bottle with me so it wasn't usually an issue. If I put in the hydro flask first, the cylindrical bulge would prevent me from putting in my flatter items in the sling. Note that I often had to put in everything else before the hydro flask to make it fit. But I was still able to fit my phone, a slim wallet, an Anker Power core 10k (non slim), 3 foot USB A to C cord, a small pill bottle, a microfiber eyeglass cloth, and a 24 oz narrow mouth hydro flask. I also wish it was just an extra liter or two bigger. But it's a minor complaint and I did ok without it.
One additional feature I would love to see is a couple of outside straps to lash a jacket or water bottle to. I was able to easily slide it from my back, to side, to front depending on the circumstances. There was a larger main compartment for a total of 3 pockets which made for great organizing. The logo was non flashy, it had a security pocket and key strap in the front pocket. The 1000D Cordura is something I typically see on higher end slings. What made this an attractive choice beyond the price point was the features and spec. After wracking my brain debating $80 to $200 options and analyzing multiple posts and reviews, I eventually gave this guy a spin and honestly am so happy with it I'm not sure if I'll pick another. These are the exact positions I found myself in when I bought the Tomtoc. Or it can be a low cost entry into the sling market to see what features make the most sense to you. This is my first review, but I feel compelled to share because this sling can be a highly quality, affordable alternative to the expensive name brands out there.
